The soul that sinneth, it shall die!
by Leon King
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. -- Ezekiel 18:4.
Godís law applies to every person:
-- Romans 3:10.
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. -- Romans 3:19.
Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; -- 1 Timothy 1:9-10.
God defines the law He gave, not the Supreme Court:
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. -- Matthew 5:21-22.
Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. -- Matthew 5:27-28.
It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. -- Matthew 5:31-32.
God says there is no one who has not sinned in thought, word, and deed:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; -- Romans 3:23.
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. -- Genesis 6:5.
You may say these things do not apply to you, but God says you donít know your own spiritual condition:
-- Jeremiah 17:9.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
You may think you do enough good to make up for any sin you have committed:
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. -- Isaiah 64:6.
For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. -- Psalms 38:4.
If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? -- Psalms 130:3.
God says the end of the sinner is eternal damnation:
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: -- Hebrews 9:27.
The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. -- Psalms 9:17.
Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. -- Isaiah 5:14.
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. -- Matthew 10:28.
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? -- Matthew 23:33.
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. -- Luke 16:23-24.
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. -- Revelation 20:11-15.
Godís law sheds light on our condition and shows our need of Jesus Christ as Savior.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. -- John 3:18-19.Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. -- Galatians 3:24.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.ó--John 14:6.
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. -- John 20:31.
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. -- Galatians 3:22.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. -- Romans 6:23.
"The Son of man shall send forth his angels and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sunin the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear." óMatthew 13:41-43
