RITUALISM vs.
OBEDIENCE
“The difference between Paedobaptists and Baptists touching
Baptism is, to a great extent, the difference between
Ritualism and Obedience.
Those who observe
a rite, not concerning
themselves to observe
the rite,
ritualize.
Those who observe
the rite, because that
rise is commanded,
obey.
Paedobaptists perform a rite, Baptists obey
the ordinance.
Baptists simply apply to baptism their constitutive
principle of
obedience.”
